Hockey In The Desert: The Henderson Silver Knights

Did you know there’s a place where you can watch a hockey game in the desert? In this episode of We Know Henderson, I’m going to tell you all about the Henderson Silver Knights, our beloved team that’s #1 in the Pacific division. We’ll learn all about hockey playing in the desert region to give you an idea of the Nevada lifestyle you can enjoy in Henderson.

Who would have thought there’d be hockey in the desert? After all, we barely have water, let alone ice. But leave it to Nevada to make it happen, and we’ve got it.

Not only do we have our beloved Las Vegas Golden Knights, but we also have the up-and-coming Henderson Silver Knights. They are our farm team, and they’re going to farm right up into the Golden Knights and keep feeding our amazing team. Right now, the Golden Knights are the number one team in the entire NHL, going for their third year. They’re definitely looking for a Stanley Cup this year.

As it turns out, the Henderson Silver Knights are number one in the Pacific division. They are killing it, which means we've got some great players that are going to be coming up. But why is a hockey team so important for our desert city?

When the Vegas Golden Knights started here in 2017, it was something that brought this community together—more than I'd ever seen it brought together before. I've been here in Henderson since 1993, going on 28 years, and it's been a phenomenal run. The definition of the word community really didn't exist in the way that I was used to from where I grew up. But now, with the Vegas Golden Knights and the soon-to-be Henderson Silver Knights playing in this wonderful Dollar Loan Center, everyone is coming together for a game.

People are buying season tickets for the Knights in droves, with the Dollar Loan Center selling out as quickly as it opens. We're really excited about even more lifestyle in our city. And if you didn't think there was already enough to do in Henderson or the surrounding area, the phenomenal Dollar Loan Center’s 6,000 seats will take it to the next level.

This state-of-the-art arena is going to be a beautiful place for Henderson residents to get together. Some may even get to know each other because they're here at every game. It’s the perfect opportunity to develop great camaraderie in the community around our minor league and major league hockey teams.

The Henderson Silver Knights just announced their fall season for 2021/2022, which will be played at the Orleans Arena while this wonderful facility is being built. You can get tickets and watch them live there while waiting for the Dollar Loan Center to be ready for the Silver Knights games in the 2022/2023 seasons.

This arena will be right in the heart of Henderson, directly across from The District and Green Valley Ranch Hotel. It’s located right across the streets of Paseo Verde and Green Valley Parkway, just off of the I-215. It's very easy to get to from just about anywhere in the valley, let alone if you're right here in Henderson. If you've got people coming in that want to go to games with you, there's a place to stay close. There will be other events there, too, from kid’s shows to concerts.

The Dollar Loan Center will be a local staple for people to enjoy great entertainment and recreation. It’s going to add so much value and excitement to the lifestyle of all these Henderson residents. And if you're coming in from other West Coast cities like Tucson or San Diego, our Silver Knights just might be playing your team.
